We are FLAX

FLAX Mental Health Coaches in Education is a charitable trust, and we connect qualified Mental Health Coaches (MHC) with schools/educational settings in Aotearoa.

FLAX works with schools to identify wellbeing needs and tailored solutions,
and we develop and resource our MHC’s to deliver these outcomes.

Our coaches foster quality medium-term relationships with their schools for sustainable change and results - often for months at a time.

We work in collaboration with or alongside other school support professionals as part of the solution to the New Zealand mental health and wellbeing crisis.

Our aims at FLAX are:

  • to connect coaches with schools,

  • obtain funding where possible to support schools that need it most, and

  • to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children and staff.

Our coaches are based across Aotearoa. They’re qualified, experienced and skilled Mental Health Coaches with a passion for improving wellbeing in educational spaces.

Feel free to contact our FLAX team to discuss your needs. We can support you to

  • find a coach,

  • work on funding options for a MHC in your school,

  • understand the needs of your teachers & students and how we can fill a gap,

  • work with your school Board, to meet the obligations of wellbeing in your school,

  • design personalised programmes and workshops for your kura and your needs.

About FLAX Coaches

Mental Health Coaches enable clients to make lifestyle changes based on the latest science and health evidence, alongside behavioural support and practical lessons.

Mental Health Coaches are not psychiatrists or psychologists - we do not prescribe or de-prescribe medication, triage major episodes or work with severe mental health issues.

Instead, we bridge the gap between those experts, using a preventative approach and working with clients to provide tools

FLAX is a charitable trust supporting Mental Health Coaches to provide quality and professional education and support in NZ schools. All of our coaches are qualified professional Mental Health Coaches, accredited with HCANZA, follow ICF coaching guidelines & the NZ Privacy Act and are police-vetted if working one-on-one with children.
